Having Right Attitudes and Behaviors

Picture
The local bible-believing church must always strive to maintain a healthy church body in the midst of a fallen world.  The apostle Paul was consistently concerned with guiding churches to be Christlike in their doctrines and attitudes toward one another and the lost world around them.  In Romans 16, Paul provides the the church with both example and direct instruction about some attitudes necessary for the church to be spiritually healthy.

Earthly Hope; Finding God's Purpose for Your Life on Earth

Have you ever felt like all you hoped for in life has slipped away and now you're only left hoping for heaven?  God doesn't want you to just drift through life hoping to die and for the suffering to end. He has a purpose for creating you. In Romans 15, a careful study of the apostle Paul's hopes and aspirations provides us with a model for having goals worth living for in a life that, without God, is utterly meaningless.

Unity and Division within the Local Bible-believing Church

Picture
We are Fundamentalists because we agree that there are "fundamentals" of our faith. There are certain doctrines that are essential to the Christian faith which cannot be compromised. But there are also other nonessential issues which have the potential to cause division within the local church. When looking for a local church, a believer should know what's most important and should decide if he can worship and serve there, with a clear conscience, even when the church leadership has set a tone and taken a clear position on the less essential issues.

Some Behaviors God is Pleased to See in the Local Church

Picture
In a world filled with sin and suffering, believers should desire the best for one another.  The atmosphere within the local church should be one of mutual encouragement where the heaviest burdens of fellow believers are temporarily carried by the church family.

Believers Must be Consistent

Picture
Christians today need to be consistent in their walks with the Lord.  If your faith is genuine then you'll consistently think of God, trust Him consistently during the trials of life, and have a testimony consistently pleasing to Him.  TEXT: Daniel 2-3

Giving Glory to God with your Life

Picture
Because of the evil influence of society around us, many Christians are succumbing to the ways of this world.  In past generations, most Americans went to church on Sundays, knew familiar bible stories could recite passages from memory.  The bible had a prominent voice in society and had at least a moral influence on the citizenry. Today, the situation is reversed.  A Godless conversation in society has dominance.  Even believers are using the world’s language, having the world’s thoughts, and desiring the things of this world more than the things of God.  Today we need believers willing to stand up for what’s right; believers who desire to bring glory to God with their lives.  What is it that you desire most?

Some Truths to Know in the Midst of Trials

Picture
Despite how much you long to have everything go smoothly in life, you will often experience troubles.  How do you handle those challenges when they come?  Do you get angry? Frustrated? Depressed? Today's message addresses some truths to keep in mind while in the midst of trials.

God is in Charge

Picture
This Christmas, while bickering noise continues to permeate society, let's remember that God is always in charge. Nothing happens without Him allowing it.  The record of the virgin birth shows God's will continues now and throughout eternity future.

Has Your Heart Grown Cold Toward Fellow Believers?

Picture
There is something tragically wrong in the church today. Gossip destroys, hurts abound, and hearts have grown cold toward one another.  Oh on the surface everything appears alright, but deep down inside something terribly unkind is going on.   True brotherly love is nearly extinct.  How might Christ work in you to be the example of brotherly love God wants you to be?

Your Life's Mission

Picture
Wherever you are in the timeline of life, you need to make the best use of the time you have left. Based on Matthew 9:35-38, that means seeking God’s will in prayer, serving Him, and having compassion for those truly in need.  Whatever the specific mission of your life, submit your remaining years to Christ and make your life a benefit to the kingdom of heaven. Your presence is requested.

All Believers Need True Christian Fellowship

Picture
Do you go to church on Sundays, sing, pray, read the Bible, hear a sermon, and then have meaningless surface conversations with those present?  Do you live week to week without any deep, meaningful fellowship with your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ?

Rather than waiting for fellowship to just mysteriously happen, it should begin with you.  But it's more than just an outward effort. Your heart has to be right with God. Once your thoughts regarding other believers mirror the way Jesus views them, only then can you move beyond superficiality and truly speak and act in ways that engender genuine Christian fellowship.

God Uses Discomfort to Cause you to Change

Picture
You don’t like experiencing discomfort in life.  You always want everything to go smoothly with every need met and a life abundant with blessings.  But when uncomfortable situations arise, you should recognize them as
opportunities from God for you to make a specific change in your life.

God speaks to you through difficult trials.  He sometimes allows you to experience discomfort to get you to make a change. Sometimes the change is with your circumstances.  Other times, God wants you to change an ungodly belief.  And yet other times, He allows discomfort to bring to light a problem in
your heart that needs to be corrected.

Whatever you face, begin to see the trials in life as methods God uses to get your attention. Is he directing you to make a change in your circumstances, in what you
  believe, or in your heart?

Today's Text: Acts 8:1-14

Being Honest about your Weaknesses

Picture
How refreshing it is when a brother in Christ is honest about his limited capabilities.  Christians too often construct impregnable walls which prevent others from knowing what’s truly in the heart.
If you’ll learn to be honest in your heart with yourself and with those around you (your limited abilities, shortcomings, challenges in life), you’ll be surprised at how God can tear down walls and use you to encourage others, open doors, and build up the faith.

Looking to God or Depending on Self?

As believer's, you're familiar with asking, seeking, and knocking, as Jesus taught.  How many of you, however, only make token requests of God while really depending upon yourself to get what you want?  Do you truly go to God and depend on Him for what you need?  Or, like the rest of the world around us, do you really look to yourself?

Text: Matthew 7:7-11

2013: Happy New Year or
Doom and Gloom Ahead?

If the "experts" are correct and economic mayhem is on the way then will God be all you need?  Is He always sufficient or will you fall into despair if things go wrong?  Why do you not trust Him in the good times but turn to Him only in times of trouble?  In 2013, stop thinking you can fix everything and let Him truly be all you need.

Text: Lamentations 3:22-25

What's in the Box?

Someone has given you a nicely wrapped Christmas gift and you wonder what’s inside.  You unwrap it carefully, with great anticipation, and wonder what it could possibly be!  As the paper is torn off,  you suddenly become aware of the
wonderful item inside!  You're so thankful for this gift!  It’s what you wanted for a long time and you know you’ll use it.  You’re so thankful!  But there are
still two more boxes with your name on them!  They are waiting for you.  Will you receive them?  Will you open them?  They contain even greater contents than the first gift!

Catastrophes Make Rational People Seek God for
the Meaning of Life

In our fallen world, Satan is allowed to cause catastrophes and destruction, leaving behind a trail of sorrowful, broken hearts.  What will it take for those who don’t know God to turn to Him?   How many more slaughters of "innocents”?  How much more economic decay?  How many more torments of cancer?  Mankind is asleep in a state of walking death which only Jesus Christ can awaken.  Text: Acts 5:12-16

“The Lord … is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9

Keep Yourself in the Position where you Belong

The multiple pressures of modern life can take you away from where you're supposed to be.  Make decisions in life carefully so God can use you for your designed purpose.  Don't let Satan render you useless to God.  Acts 6:1-7

Respect for God Requires...

1. That I'm willing to risk everything to honor Him
2. That  have a clear conscience in everything I do
3. That I deny self

2 Corinthians 4:4
"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

The Great Commission:
